Furnace Flame Sensor

Another safety feature in a furnace system is the furnace flame sensor. It helps regulate the flow of gas coming into your furnace and shuts off the gas or fuel valve if the gas burners do not light as to prevent gas build-up or worse, a catastrophic explosion.

A faulty flame sensor, as a safety measure, will shut down the whole furnace unit and may left you in cold in the middle of winter. Getting you on this page means you might think your flame sensor is going bad. So here are some signs of a flame sensor failure:

  • Gas burners light but then go out after 3-4 seconds
  • Visible soot is covering the tip of the flame sensor
  • The white porcelain on your flame sensor is broken or cracked

Good news is, it is not that hard to change a flame sensor and it is much easier and more economical to do it yourself. We have all the parts you might need, if you’re not sure which part to get, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help you out.
